Go Skateboard Day Rained Off

Well, true to manchester form, it rained on Saturday meaning that the protest / Tony Wilson Tribute didn’t happen.

Let’s hope that this summer is more sunny than last summer!

Go Skateboarding Day Tomorrow!

Roll Up (on your skateboards) for International Go Skateboarding Day which is Tomorrow!

The Vans team are around Manchester all day and the SkateMCR street skate time will be from 6pm - 8pm at URBIS and will be both a protest of the byelaws and a celebration of all that Tony Wilson gave to Manchester alongside the Tony Wilson Experience.

Joe Gavin has been busy making a sign saying “Skate MADCHESTER” to show our support of the Tony Wilson celebration.

Word is that there will be plain clothed wardens and police at URBIS ready to give fines and ASBO’s so it’s your descision to come and skate!

Also, the final of the eS Game Of Skate is taking place in Manchester on Sunday outside the Projekts Skatepark. So make sure you enter and rep Manchester!

It’s a major weekend.

This Is For You

June 6, 2008
7:00 pmto9:00 pm

The latest exhibition at Projekts gallery titled ‘This is for you’ is a show made up of collaborations with Artist Paul Roberts’ Monsters Monsters.

The idea for the project is devilishly simple, drawing up a hit list of artists Paul Admires, he sent them doodles, paintings, patterns for plush toys and toys themselves with instructions for them to let their imaginations run riot.

Among the Artists are names like Jon Burgerman, Micheal Sieben, Ian Stevenson, The Outcrowd Collective, Travis Millard as well as some up and coming hot new talent, resulting in over 50 individually pieces from all over the world (see flier attached for full list). Projekts is happy to invite all their friends to the gallery on Friday 6th June for a special preview of the work.

Show runs; Weds 4th-Sun 22nd June
Opening night: Friday 6th June 7-9pm

Open daily 10-6pm
Sundays 11-4pm

GSD 2008 Tony Wilson Tribute

Thanks to Drake for the heads up on the Tony Wilson Experience, a 24 hour event at Cathedral Gardens happening the same day as Go Skateboard Day.

I have been told reliably that the Cathedral side will not be fenced off so the new plan is to go and skate there from 6pm in tribute to Tony Wilson, a true pioneer in Manchester.

I’ll be using the £30 which SkateMCR has to create a banner saying something like “Skaters Love Tony Wilson”.

If you have a snappier idea for what the banner should say, leave a comment below!

Zoo York In Manchester

Yes. The Zoo York Team are hitting Manchester to kick off their European Tour next Wednesday so get yourself into the city centre!

They will be at the NOTE shop from 4.30pm signing your stuff, then they’re gonna Pump the Cage from 6pm.

Spread the word, but I don’t know where you’re gonna find cockroaches this size in Manchester:
